There was a time when angel-themed books were all the rage. I’ve read so many of them, but only a few stuck to me. Here are my favourite angel-themed books and why I like them.
Penryn & the End of Days
How can I not love this series? Penryn is such a kick-ass female lead and Raffe is not an annoying angel. I love how their romance isn’t the main core of the story. The writer took time to build up the plot, and the world she built is quite realistic. Susan Ee also made me empathize with Belial, the demon-ex-watcher. Plus the side characters get some spotlight, too.
Daughter of Smoke & Bone
Daughter of Smoke & Bone is the first Urban Fantasy that I actually loved. Although I have not read the last book, I still consider this series as a favourite. At one point, I even thought about dying my hair blue because of Karou.
In The Rephaim, we get another Raphael, Rafa. What I loved about this series is the fact that Gaby, the female lead, does not take bullshit. She asks questions, she doesn’t just “accept” the things that are fed to her. But she can be really stubborn, which I also like. It makes her quite realistic. There’s definitely character development, and the romance isn’t the main core of the story either.
Did your favourite make my list? If you have one that I should check out, leave them at the comments below.
