Ninako is a meek, gentle high school student. She has never been in love. Ninako asks Daiki, who has emotions towards her, about what being in love feels like. She thinks he is a good guy but…? One day, on the train home from school, she bumps into Ren, a popular guy at school. With just a short conversation and his smile, she experiences a new feeling. Just what is this feeling…!? Ninako’s first love is starting!
Manga exists. I knew that, but I was never a fan. Most mangas are turned into animé, I’m not a fan either, though I watched Attack on Titans and finished the first season. With that said, I think I entered a black hole and can’t get out!
Strobe Edge is not my first manga, but it’s the first one that I am going to review. For some reason, I am drawn to school life romances; maybe because during our teens, we experience the most innocent kind of love. The story was pretty short, at 43 chapters, but it was packed with cheese and romance.
Ninako is the typical geek. She is well-liked by her peers, and is close friends with a boy, Daiki, whom she grew up with. One day, on a train ride home, she had an encounter with Ren, a popular boy in school. He bumped into her and that started it all.
Ren, on the other hand, is the typical “cold” popular guy. A lot of girls swoon whenever he walks by. But little did they know, there is a kindness in him that Ninako learned about as they became friends.
The progression of their friendship is one of the things that I liked about the story. Ninako drew Ren out of his shell. She made him realize a lot of things that are more important, and best of all she made him smile and laugh.
After reading the manga, I also watched the live action. I hated it. The editing felt sloppy, and if you didn’t read the manga, you would feel like the story is incomplete. But what can two-hours do, huh? It just unfortunate that I wasn’t able to see the progression of friendship that I liked from the manga. But it was nice seeing it. #
Is there a manga that you would like me to read? I’d love to know!
